POSITION TITLE: Head Girls Basketball Coach

FLSA: Exempt

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Must meet AR licensure requirements; Coach/Health/PE 

 

REPORTS TO: Principal

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 205 Day employment with benefits as specified in employee contract.

 

BEGINNING: 07-24-2017

                        

ESSENTIAL COACHING FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Display loyalty to the principal, athletic director and the Athletic Department.
  • Supervise athletes and team assigned to him/ her.
  • Assist with supervising all athletes in program.
  • Help plan and supervise any special needs/events (awards night, parent meeting, community service, etc.).
  • Make suggestions and recommendations that will help the program.
  • Display sportsmanship towards opponents, officials, parents, and team through appropriate behavior. 
  • Follow rules and regulations in the Crossett School District Athletic Department, Coaches and AAA Handbooks.
  • Plan and conduct daily practices for assigned team.
  • Attend pre-season organizational meetings as assigned by the athletic director.
  • Assist in organizing and running of invitational and/or AAA tournaments and/or  
  • Attend professional development activities and remain current to new coaching strategies.
  • Attend all interscholastic contests for assigned team (if an emergency or situation arises that would necessitate the absence of a coach, the athletic director must be notified as soon as the situation is known). 

 

 

                          

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Evaluates each pupil’s growth in knowledge, skills, and scientific attitudes in course being taught.
  • Teach students about the structure and content of the English language, including proper grammar, spelling, and sentence structure.
  • Teach about different literary styles.
  • Use information technology to assist with lesson preparation, teaching and reporting set tests, exams, projects, assignments and homework; mark and correct assessments.
  • Evaluate and report on the progress of students, and discuss individual performance and problems with students and parents.
  • Establish and maintain good working habits and discipline in classrooms and throughout the school.
  • Ability to supervise extra classes when other teachers are absent and substitutes are not available.
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development activities as assigned.
  • Participate in other activities in partnership with parents and the school community, including parent-teacher nights, school council and other committees.
  • Actively utilizes education technology.
  • Assist in administrative support programs and the work of non-teaching staff in schools.
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
  • Enforcing rules and disciplinary action.
  • Lecturing and discussing concepts.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.  

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS  

  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.
  • Diagnose and evaluates student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Effectively implement district initiatives.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
  • Serve on committees as assigned.
  • Remain current on instructional practices in education. 
  • Must have the ability to lift at least 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, occasional reaching above the head or the shoulders, bending, squatting.
